Itinerary
DAY 1 - Arrival in Zhangjiajie · Wulingyuan Gateway
Flight or train to Zhangjiajie. Meet your driver (no guide) and transfer to your hotel near Wulingyuan — Zimu Shan Zhuang Hotel, at the foot of the mountains. First free stroll around the park area.
DAY 2 - Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (UNESCO)
Full-day exploration of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Ride the Tianzishan Cable Car to the summit region of Tianzi Mountain; take in viewpoints such as Shentangwan and Yuanjiajie — whose towering pillars inspired Avatar — including a stunning natural bridge. Descend via the Bailong Elevator (326 m), among the world’s highest outdoor lifts. Return to Wulingyuan.
DAY 3 - Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon · Glass Bridge Option → Furong
Morning visit to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, famed for cliffs and waterfalls; optional giant slide descent. Weather permitting, you may add the Glass Bridge experience (not included; ~150 CNY/person). Afternoon drive (~3 hrs) to Furong Ancient Town; visit the historic center.
DAY 4 - Dehang Region · Aizhai Suspension Bridge · Miao Culture → Fenghuang
Browse the local Furong market, then continue to Aizhai Suspension Bridge (one of the world’s highest). Walk to the “Questioning Paradise” platform (2-3 hrs round trip). After lunch, visit Liusha Waterfall and enjoy a Miao customs show (songs & dances). Continue to Fenghuang Old Town on the Tuo River; enjoy dinner in stilted riverside eateries beneath lanterns.
DAY 5 - Fenghuang Dawn Lanes · Batik Atelier → Zhangjiajie via Zuolong Gorge
Early risers can greet Fenghuang before the crowds. Visit the atelier of artist Liu Da Pao to see traditional batik textiles. Optional boat ride on the Tuo River (not included; ~150 CNY/person). After lunch, return toward Zhangjiajie, stopping to walk Zuolong Gorge — quiet, scenic, and less touristed. Evening option: sound-and-light show “Tianmen Fox Fairy” (~250 CNY/person).
DAY 6 - Tianmen Mountain · Cave of Heaven · Departure
Ascend Tianmen Mountain by the world-long Tianmen Cableway (≈7.5 km). Walk to Tianmen Cave — the dramatic natural arch made famous by aerobatic flights — and take in sweeping views before descending by cable car. Transfer to the railway station or airport for onward travel.
